Xolo Maridueña's Blue Beetle Joins James Gunn's Superman Sequel

Xolo Maridueña is officially reprising his role as Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle in "Man of Tomorrow," the highly anticipated Superman sequel directed by James Gunn. Production has confirmed that the character is successfully making the leap from the previous DC Extended Universe straight into the newly rebooted DCU timeline.

Serving as the direct follow-up to "Superman" (2025), "Man of Tomorrow" is scheduled to hit theaters on July 9, 2027. The plot sees Superman (David Corenswet) form an uneasy alliance with Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) to defeat the super-intelligent alien threat, Brainiac (Lars Eidinger).

Alongside Maridueña, the massive ensemble cast includes Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane), Nathan Fillion (Guy Gardner), Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl), and Edi Gathegi (Mister Terrific). James Gunn previously confirmed that Blue Beetle stands as the very first official character of this new DCU era.
