The anime adaptation of Jura's manga My Girlfriend's Friend, known in Japan as Kanojo no Tomodachi

An anime adaptation of the hit manga Kanojo no Tomodachi (My Girlfriend's Friend) has locked in an October 2026 premiere alongside a new teaser trailer and key visual. Studio Quad is producing the animation with Takashi Ando directing, Goko Shiraki supervising scripts, and Ryuji Iwata handling character designs. The series is being developed under WWWave Corporation's "Deregula" label, established to bring external publishers' manga to the screen.

The story follows Takeru, a high schooler whose life gets complicated when his girlfriend Kaori's close friend, Tomoko, begins inserting herself into their relationship. This mounting third-party tension has driven the source material's massive success; since debuting in 2021, the manga required an immediate reprint for its first volume and surpassed 800,000 copies in circulation by late 2024.

With its established popularity and a strong creative team at the helm, this upcoming adaptation heads into the fall season with a very solid foundation.
