Richard Appiah Akoto, an ICT teacher at Betenase Junior High School in Ghana, went viral for his incredible dedication to his students. Facing a complete lack of computers at his school, Akoto used colored chalk to meticulously draw a full Microsoft Word window on his blackboard so his students could prepare for a national computer skills exam.
His drawing included every precise detail, from the title and menu bars to the text area and scroll bars. After posting photos of his lesson on Facebook in 2018, the story caught the attention of Microsoft Africa. The tech giant stepped in to donate laptops and educational gear to the school, and even flew Akoto to Singapore for a global educators' conference.
Akoto's viral moment proves that resource limitations cannot stop true passion and dedication to education.
