A recent trailer shows Peter Parker approaching Bruce Banner after a physics lecture while wearing an Empire State University sweatshirt, marking the first live-action appearance of his comic-accurate college. The official synopsis confirms this shift, describing Peter attempting to focus on college and move past Spider-Man before a new threat emerges.
This is a major step forward for the character after the events of No Way Home, which left him stripped of his identity and studying for his GED after his MIT acceptance fell apart. Meanwhile, MJ and Ned—who no longer remember Peter—have reportedly enrolled at MIT, adding a layer of heartbreak as he watches them move on without him.
If this storyline holds, Tom Holland's Peter will become only the second live-action Spider-Man to attend college, following Tobey Maguire's portrayal in the Sam Raimi trilogy. Balancing college life while isolated and forgotten brings a fresh emotional depth to Spider-Man: Brand New Day, hitting theaters July 31.
