Captain Remoshay Nelson made history as the first Black woman to become an officer on the US Air Force Thunderbirds, the service's elite flight demonstration squadron. A graduate of Howard University from Douglasville, Georgia, Nelson joined a highly exclusive group, as only about 332 officers have earned a spot since the team's founding in 1953. She served the legendary squadron as a Public Affairs Officer.
Nelson credits her humble beginnings, her parents, and the confidence gained during her time at Howard for inspiring her to pursue an extraordinary career path. Her presence on the team serves as a powerful message to young girls that such high achievements are entirely attainable, noting, "I won't be the last."
