K-pop group Red Velvet has announced their new summer mini-album, "Velvet Summer," dropping on August 3 at 6 p.m. KST. The release features five fresh tracks led by the lead single "Surfin' Boy," and official pre-orders are open now.
This marks the group's third dedicated summer project, following 2017's "The Red Summer" and 2018's "Summer Magic." The album reunites members Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, Joy, and Yeri for their first group comeback since "Cosmic" in June 2024.
British illustrator Elise Caddick crafted the dreamy beach concept artwork, blending bold "Red" energy with elegant "Velvet" vibes. While excited fans have quickly hailed the return of the reigning "Summer Queens," causing pre-orders to take off fast, some listeners expressed minor disappointment over the short five-track runtime.
