Opaque Stickers vs. Print: The Heated LEGO DoodleBob Minifigure Debate

A new debate has divided LEGO SpongeBob fans over the upcoming DoodleBob minifigure included in set 11386. The controversy centers on the fact that DoodleBob's crude, rectangular body and face details rely on stickers rather than premium printing, even though he does include his iconic oversized pencil.

The beloved cartoon character joins SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward, and Gary in a highly detailed $219.99 Bikini Bottom diorama launching on September 1, 2026. Critics argue that a premium price tag warrants fully printed figures, noting that aligning white stickers on thin black plastic is notoriously difficult.

However, defenders point out a technical justification: printing white ink directly onto black LEGO plastic often results in a translucent, dull grey finish. Stickers provide the crisp, opaque white lines essential to DoodleBob's hand-drawn aesthetic while freeing up budget for the unique pencil mold.
