Argentina's peso has tumbled to a historic low, trading at approximately 1,483 per US dollar as of July 2026. This grim milestone caps a long history of repeated currency devaluations.
Long-term charts highlight the scale of the collapse, with the peso's value falling to just 0.00067 US dollars—a staggering 99.59% decline since 2010. By comparison, one Fortnite V-Buck is now worth about 10.5 pesos. Decades of fiscal deficits, money printing, and political instability have fueled this hyperinflation, which has intensified since the 2018 monetary crisis.
To combat this, President Javier Milei introduced economic "shock therapy" in late 2023, including a 50% devaluation and austerity measures. While annual inflation has dropped significantly to around 30% and reserves have climbed to $49 billion, the results have polarized the nation. Critics label the peso "worthless," while supporters note the decline largely predates his presidency.
