A live-action My Hero Academia film is officially moving forward at Netflix and Legendary Entertainment. Jason Fuchs (Wonder Woman) is set to pen the screenplay, with Shinsuke Sato (Alice in Borderland) directing the ambitious adaptation. Original manga author Kōhei Horikoshi is also on board as a creative consultant.
The project is being developed as a single feature-length film rather than a multi-episode series. Production is reportedly targeting a Fall 2026 filming start date, pointing toward a potential late 2027 theatrical release window. Formal casting has not yet begun, leaving iconic roles like Deku, Bakugo, and All Might firmly under wraps.
Fan reactions are mixed, striking a balance between genuine hope and dread. While some point to past live-action anime flops, Sato’s strong track record with live-action adaptations, combined with Netflix's recent success with One Piece, keeps optimism alive for this beloved franchise.
