Mushoku Tensei's Author Says He Writes Only for Himself

"Mushoku Tensei" author Rifujin na Magonote recently addressed overseas criticism head-on. When a fan urged him to ignore the backlash, the author warmly replied that he mostly tunes out the "antis" anyway, stating that he simply writes the stories he wants to read for himself.

This confident stance aligns with his creative track record of prioritizing artistic freedom over external pressure. The controversy surrounding the series stems from its heavy, taboo themes, particularly protagonist Rudeus Greyrat's deep moral flaws and behavior early in the story, which frequently spark intense ethical debates on Western platforms.

Rifujin’s philosophy remains consistent: he aims to write a realistic story about genuine personal growth, which requires showing characters at their absolute worst before they can improve. He ultimately refuses to alter his core characters or compromise his original vision to appease vocal critics.
