The anime adaptation of Kagurabachi held its world premiere at Anime Expo 2026, screening the first 20 minutes of Episode 1 on July 3—months ahead of its April 2027 television debut. The exclusive event featured a special panel with Chihiro's voice actor Taihi Kimura, manga editor Takuro Imamura, and producer Koichi Yasuda.
The immense hype is well-earned. The source manga previously won the Next Manga Award 2024 and has over 4 million copies in circulation. Directed by Tetsuya Takeuchi and animated by Studio Cypic, the dark action story follows Chihiro Rokuhira, a young swordsmith who embarks on a bloody quest for revenge against yakuza and sorcerers to recover six stolen Enchanted Blades after his father's murder.
Global fans will get more early glimpses at Japan Expo Paris, AnimagiC in Germany, and Anime NYC before the full series officially broadcasts next spring.
