An ambitious original anime titled Jurassic Shadows (Ryugesho no Shinobi) has been announced, delivering a wild premise that blends ninjas, predatory dinosaurs, and cosmetic makeup. The project was unveiled by director Norihiro Naganuma at Anime Expo, marking his shift to high-octane action following his work on The Apothecary Diaries.
Animated by Studio Cannon Code, the series features a screenplay by Kenta Ihara (Saga of Tanya the Evil). Character designs are managed by Yukiko Nakatani from Yōichi Amano's original concepts, while Shūhei Mutsuki (Lycoris Recoil) composes the score.
Set in Tokyo 2029, the plot reveals that dinosaurs never went extinct; instead, their DNA integrated into humanity, creating hidden humanoid predators. To fight back, a secret order of ninjas uses "Ryugesho"—a memory-infused cosmetic pigment that awakens dinosaur traits, granting them the power to battle their prehistoric foes.
