J.K. Simmons has confirmed on the Happy Sad Confused podcast that he has never actually met his Marvel Cinematic Universe co-star Tom Holland. Despite both appearing in Spider-Man: Far From Home and Spider-Man: No Way Home, their paths never crossed. Simmons playfully joked about the Peter Parker actor, remarking, "Delightful guy, I'm told."
Because his scenes as the brash J. Jonah Jameson primarily feature angry video rants behind a desk, they were filmed separately. Simmons revealed his Far From Home cameo was a last-minute decision recorded inside a bare executive office with no set built, which he theorizes is why this version of Jameson is bald. Red carpet premieres and promotional events similarly managed to keep the two actors fully apart.
While Simmons spent significant screen time with Tobey Maguire in Sam Raimi's original trilogy, this modern iteration required zero face-to-face interaction. The actor also confirmed he will not be appearing in the upcoming movie Spider-Man: Brand New Day, temporarily dashing fan hopes for an on-screen meeting.
