Japan's Retired Cat Boy Military Mascot Gets His Own Collectible Figure

Omaneko, the viral furry cat boy mascot who once promoted Japan's Air Self-Defense Force, has transitioned from military service to a collectible figure. The fighting feline enjoyed an active promotional career across social media campaigns before officially retiring from service on August 1, 2024. 

The new figure faithfully recreates his signature look, featuring his distinct split tail, long blue hairstyle, puffy chest fur, and blushing cheeks. He comes equipped with a mock training rifle and black combat boots. Notably, he sports a digital camouflage jacket but goes entirely without trousers. 

Standing 5.8 inches tall, the snap-fit kit requires no glue. It offers high customization with four faceplates and seven interchangeable hands for dynamic posing. The standard version retails for roughly $37, while the premium edition is priced around $58.
