The original meme first ignited in early 2022. Reddit users, animators paired fan-made Miku animations with an aggressive audio clip yelling at British people to "go home." It settled into a standard skit format, where someone asks if she is British. Her dramatic reply: "Excuse me, are you British? Oh no, no, no, no, no.
Hatsune Miku does NOT talk to British people."
In reality, the running joke could not be any further from the actual truth. Miku is a virtual voice synthesizer developed by Crypton Future Media, complete with multiple official English voicebanks. She enjoys a genuinely massive fanbase across the United Kingdom too.
On top of that, she regularly "sings" to British audiences during her global concert tours.
The extreme irony landed once England beat Haaland's Norway 2-1. Led by captain Harry Kane, the Three Lions effectively "seized" Miku for the United Kingdom. Because they won the match, custody officially transferred straight to England.
Fans are howling at the hysterical hypocrisy of her being "trapped" with the exact nationality she actively avoids.
Despite her supposed "protests," artists are already redesigning her aggressively. The buff Viking armor from Norway's brief era is being tossed out entirely.
In its place go elegant Victorian top hats, sharply tailored coats, a proper steaming cup of English Breakfast tea. The full transformation into a polished British Miku is happening remarkably fast.
