Counter-Strike just introduced a new map where players have to rescue dogs, not human hostages
Valve just dropped a major CS2 update featuring a new map called "Shelter," originally made by a community mapper named SmurftYours through Steam Workshop before it got officially added into the game.

The map is set inside Wakaalu County Animal Shelter, where players have to rescue dogs that got kidnapped by a fictional org called Phoenix Biotechnical for illegal medical testing.

Gameplay wise, everything works exactly like the classic Hostage Rescue mode, except now instead of carrying a human hostage on your shoulder, you're literally carrying a dog.

Funny enough, this update dropped not long after a real life story about hundreds of beagles being rescued from a research facility in Wisconsin went viral worldwide.

On top of Shelter, this update also reworked the whole bomb explosion mechanic and brought the map Cache back into competitive rotation.
