The Nicobar pigeon is one of the rarest and most striking pigeon species alive today. Its habitat is restricted to remote islands stretching from India’s Andaman and Nicobar chain through Indonesia, the Solomon Islands, and Palau.

Visually, it is one of the world's most exotic birds, featuring long, cascading neck feathers in shimmering shades of metallic green, blue, and copper that contrast sharply against a dark gray head.
