Pokémon GO's 10th-anniversary event in Times Square is facing heavy backlash from the community.

The invite-only celebration gathered 2,000 trainers and creators for a massive Mega Mewtwo Y raid. However, players are furious that every attendee walked away with a guaranteed 100% IV ("hundo") Mewtwo featuring a rare Times Square background.

Grinders labeled the exclusive reward a "slap in the face" that unfairly favors influencers over everyday fans. Conversely, defenders point out that the guest list had to be strictly capped due to Times Square's limited capacity, and that local community ambassadors deserved the recognition.

Streamers have stepped in to cool the outrage. Content creators Caleb Peng and Alex Nexton clarified that invitees had absolutely no idea the perfect Mewtwo reward was coming, urging fans not to blame the attendees for the developers' decision.
