Technoblade (Alex), a beloved Dream SMP Minecraft creator, died of cancer in 2022 at age 23. Technolarp operates without official permission but has disabled monetization, claiming he wants to entertain, not replace the creator.
Responding on Reddit, Technodad called his feelings "inconclusive." He admitted he found the impersonation flattering but difficult to process, which is why he delayed replying to Technolarp's messages.
The situation highlights a broader "Larptuber" trend, including the LarpSMP server where users roleplay as creators. Fans are split: some see Technolarp as a nostalgic tribute, while critics argue impersonating a deceased creator places an unfair burden on his grieving family.
